So I called me today.

He's transferred to Davis.

Why. Why. Why.

Why now?

C: Excuse me, do you know where the Medical Science Center is?
Random Boy: No, sorry--I'm a first year too!
C: ...I'm a fourth year.
Random Boy: Oh. Wow.

And this happened twice!!

Fail, fail, fail.

My phone died while K was giving me directions to my first class, which was located in an obscure area off of the main campus near the freeway. He actually biked over to make sure I found my way ok, even though his class wasn't until much later in the afternoon. Sweet.

While I was looking for the building, I met someone who happened to be taking the same course. We have a lot in common: he was originally an Art major who then switched to English--difference is, he's now finally settled on Psychology and is minoring in Education. I think it was meant to be. I keep congratulating myself for making a friend for once in a giant lecture hall and sitting among people instead of isolating myself to the back corners as usual.

As if rewarding me for being social, my milk tea was upgraded (KB was working today).

Bumped into M later during the day in the complex--apparently, she lives practically right next to my building. She's offered to let me borrow her clicker, which saves me $50.

Spent a good half hour at the arcade after my last class meditatively pumping away at Time Crisis 4. 70% accuracy--one handed, baby. One dollar gives you five tokens, games are only about two tokens per play, and the place is ghost town around 7 o'clock, I've realized. Lovely. Does it get any better?

It does.

Tonight, everyone, well almost everyone, was out in the living room talking for hours about random things; it was like live action StumbleUpon musical chairs. We've christened the apartment--it definitely feels lived in now. My new housemates (whom I refer to as "The Lost Boys," for I feel I am their Wendy) are great:  L 's a break dancer, K's a Shaman, and R is kind of like the male version of myself.

The only kink in this living situation is that J is moving out for a couple of quarters due to financial aid issues, so there'll be a new and unfamiliar addition to the household some time soon. He has yet to find him or her though. Hopefully, nothing will change too much. It's pretty amazing at the moment.

Jie actually bought him a hat off of Etsy.

Poor baby.

Blink of an eye and the week passes by.

Spent the last of my summer chasing sunsets, tossing worries aside. Feeling the breeze, watching the skies change colors--the purple before nightfall. Remembering scents--jasmine flowers, sulfur, ocean air, and many more. Conducted a flurry of cooking, of teasing. There was music. Quiet singing. Whistling. Wine and champagne. Blue cheese. Late night adventures while the city slept, empty streets. Wandering a lonely park, eyes on the carousel spinning and its dancing mares. Remembering the view from up above--the bright lights, the faint stars; the climb. Calm waters in the financial district, surrounded by whimsical sculptures seemingly from Wonderland. Live waters from the beach--silhouettes of trees, scattered seaweed, bonfires from a distance. Midnight swims. Waking up late into the afternoons, tangled. Minutes to hours, Happiness on play--laughter and smiles on loop.

Thank you for the good times.

Holly Brook - Haunted

We could gt a chill
On haunted hill
Where the saddest parts
Inside my heart
Can live in the past
Leave me at last
Can live in the past
Leave me at last

Today I almost died, death by the bookshelf I was trying to tote up the stairs.

My dad somehow has it in his head that I can move large pieces of furniture.  Even with help.

Don't get me wrong--I felt the fight (flight would have killed me).  But no matter how tight you hold on with whatever ounce of strength you have, there's only so much willpower can do when your grip begins to slip.

Luckily, what my sister lacks in brain, she makes up for in muscle (and in heart):  she caught the damn thing (piece of shit!) and steamrolled through those steps like it was nothing.

Later on, she said to me, "The thought of you possibly being crushed to a pancake kept me going."

My hero.
Jokes Mr. Engineer to Ms. English:

E:  So the past, present, and future walk into the bar...
E: It was tense.
C:  HAHAHAHAHAHA
C: AAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

After this quarter, I will be two (advanced) courses away from completing my major.  How exciting.
