My Mother somehow has it in her head that we're going to abandon her in a home when she grows old.

She also feels threatened by the cat, who's been receiving much of the affection and adoration from the children since he's been incorporated into our family. 

Mm.  I guess Grandma's situation is affecting her a lot more than I thought.
